Blog (folio) by D. Demp

"blogfolios" – blog-based career and freelance portfolios – are becoming the norm in the world of Web 2.0 job seekers. In 1999, it was reported that less than one-third of Fortune 500 companies were engaged in any form of online recruitment. By 2003, that figure had jumped to 94%; today, it registers at 100%. Likewise, a survey conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management estimates that by 2006, 96% of job seekers were using online resources in their searches.(link 3)

What does this medium say about you?

The Blogfolio tells people/potential employers not only what your experience is but provides an opportunity to talk about each piece of work you put up. It can talk about certain things that you were proud of in a project and obstacles you have overcome. It also tells your people how often you add new content ant typically has links to other social networks

Advantages/strengths of medium

(see above)

Most importantly, online resumes and blogfolios should be easy to navigate, have a professional, industry-appropriate design, a straightforward URL, and be updated frequently.

Disadvantages/pitfalls of this medium

If you don’t properly moderate your Blogfolio some comments and responses to your post can be negative.

If you have been working on projects with nondisclosure agreements you might not have anything to post for a while. This could seem like you’re not currently working or that you’re lazy with the blog.

Need to remember the potential audience to who could be reading the Blog so don’t be negative or vent on about people/employers.
