1. Brief Summary of this medium – what is it?

Facebook is a social networking site. A profile can either be public or private – you can share as much or as little as you like.



2. What does this medium say about you?

This medium can say a lot about someone - depending on how much information that person decides to share. It can show what a family oriented person someone is, or how much they enjoy spending every weekend (or weeknight) at the bar with all their friends. It can show how you like to spend your free time, or how much you love (or hate) your occupation. It can show how you publically present yourself when you think no one is looking, and that can either be very rewarding, or very dangerous.



3. Why would you use this resource as an employer? (Advantages and strengths?)

An employer could potentially use this resource to see another side of a job candidate that they didn’t originally see in the interview. They may use it for all of the above-mentioned reasons in question #2. So, if all a person has on their Facebook page is pictures of last week’s martini party, Mafia Wars and Farm Town applications, and comments eluding to how drunk you were the night before – it might not work to your professional advantage to have a public Facebook profile.
